Contractors face challenges in MaRS Discovery District construction in Toronto		2/22/2012 6:10 PM
When construction of the 21-storey second phase of the MaRS Discovery District, a science and technology think tank, is completed near Queen’s Park in downtown Toronto in 2013, it will be one of the biggest innovation hubs in the world, a spokesman said. PCL Constructors Canada Inc. is the general contractor for the project while B+H Architects is the prime consultant.

Work moves above-grade at the River City West Don Lands in Toronto. Urban Capital Property Group along with Bluescape Construction Management Inc. has completion of the two-building River City West Don Lands scheduled for mid 2013. The architects for the project are Saucier + Perrotte Architects and ZAS Architects Inc.

The Ontario Road Builders’ Association’s (ORBA) members have a large role to play in how Metrolinx delivers its transportation agenda, said the transit organization’s CEO, Bruce McCuaig. Metrolinx and the ORBA board have been speaking about developing a joint transit contractors council.

The City of Westmount, Quebec, on the island of Montreal has awarded a $38-million design-build contract to Pomerleau Inc. for the construction of a recreation centre with ice surfaces and a pool.
Environmental assessment starts for Alderon open pit iron ore mine in Labrador		2/22/2012 6:10 PM
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency announced Monday that a joint federal-provincial assessment will be done on Alderon Iron Corp.'s (TSX.V: ADV) Kamistiatusset (Kami) Iron Ore open pit mining project in southwest Labrador.
